A Long-Term Vision for the Black Hills

The Hills Retreat & Sanctuary
A patient dream in the granite and ponderosa pine.

KindWell was born on quiet trails and granite outcroppings across the Black Hills of South Dakota. While our daily wellbeing practices, herbal apothecary store, and member circles are active every day, opening a dedicated physical sanctuary in the hills is a long-term dream we are gently nurturing. We aren’t rushing it or turning it into a commercial resort—we are taking our time, listening to the land, and shaping it with friends.

The Sanctuary Vision

Space to breathe, unhurried and uncluttered.

For those who know the Black Hills, the land speaks in a quiet frequency: wind through the ponderosa pines, mountain creeks cutting through ancient granite, and skies that make room for honest rest. The Hills Retreat is our vision for a dedicated small-footprint haven in this landscape.

When the doors open, it will remain intentionally small and intimate—never a high-volume resort, but a restorative place where small circles can practice together, drink good botanical tea, listen to Tibetan singing bowls, and walk the ridges without seeing another soul.

Trail in the pine

Miles of quiet mountain trails starting right at the doorstep.

Tibetan singing bowl

Acoustic singing bowl baths, breathwork, and nervous-system de-escalation.

Herbal tea cups

Local botanical teas, clean herbal preparations, and restorative silence.

The Four Intentions of the Sanctuary

Somatic & Sound Care

Acoustic singing bowl sound baths, gentle vagal tone resets, and unhurried nervous system grounding.

Forest & Trail Walks

Silent morning walking practices among towering ponderosas, clean mountain air, and sacred rock outcroppings.

Apothecary & Clean Tea

Seasonal herbal infusions, digestive tonics, and restorative remedies prepared from local botanicals.

Circle & Deep Rest

Fireside reflections, low-stimulation bedrooms, natural daylight, and quiet hours for genuine restorative sleep.

Future Seasons

What Seasonal Stays Will Look Like

As the sanctuary takes form, residencies will be kept to 8–10 people at a time to preserve silence and reverent care for the land.

Spring Equinox Vision

First Light & Somatic Renewal

Marking the early thaw, pasque flower blossoms, and somatic re-attunement after a long winter.

Summer Solstice Vision

Granite & Creek Contemplation

Days of cool creek-side walking practices, herbal foraging walks, and quiet communal evenings.

Autumn Rhythms Vision

Harvest, Rest & Deep Grounding

Golden aspen trails, fireside sound baths, and slow pacing before the winter frost.
